Mindfulness
What is it?
Mindfulness is the practice of purposefully focusing on the present moment and accepting it without judgement.
Developed from the practice of Buddhist meditation that was brought into a more secular practice by Professor Jon Kabat-Zinn who developed an 8 week mindfulness based stress reduction course.
How does it help?
Mindfulness has been shown to be beneficial for a variety of concerns including:
Attention, Addiction, Anger, Anxiety, Blood Pressure, Chronic Pain, Depression, Patience, Stress Reduction, Sleep, and many other things
How do I do it?
It begins by giving yourself the time and space to practice it.
Then you focus on your breath and then on other sensations without judgement.
You allow yourself to acknowledge and accept the feelings, sensations, and emotions that you are experiencing at the moment and then letting them go to move on to the next.
